Omega Horizon is an award-winning sci-fi tabletop role-playing game developed by Paleo Gaming and the first game to utilize the Paleo Gaming Rules System (PGRS). Released in 2025, it was awarded the NDU People’s Choice Awards for Game of the Year, Best Mechanics, and Best Setting.

The Setting
The game is set in a future where humanity has spread out among the stars and become a dominant force in the galaxy. However, this future is far from idyllic, and the source material explores dystopian themes such as:
The nature of humanity and the potential perils of artificial intelligence;
Humankind versus machine versus nature; and
The cost of survival in the dark reaches of space.
Despite the at-times grim nature of the source material, there are elements of hope; forces of resistance, and players who endeavor to carry a torch in the darkness will find welcome company among the stars- not in the unyielding might of the great empires, or the insatiable greed of the mega-corporations, but among individuals, idealists who also dream of a better tomorrow and are willing to fight for it.

The Omega Horizon Core Rulebook includes everything you need to run and play the game. This includes:
Rules for character creation and advancement.
Twelve playable Species for players to choose from.
Numerous Careers and rules for creating custom Careers.
An extensive Skills section which provides details and potential uses of Skill Groups and their associated Skill Specialties, along with suggestions for modifiers based upon environmental effects, tools, etc.
Detailed entries for genetic modifications, cybernetic enhancements, and technological augmentation players can purchase for their characters.
Detailed stats for weapons, armor, equipment, vehicles, and starships available to players in the game.
Detailed rules for handling combat, both on the ground and in space.
A guide to the galaxy which includes a planetary atlas detailing numerous planets and star systems that GMs can have their players explore.
A Game Mastering section which discusses how to balance encounters, helpful tips for setting the tone of a campaign, and straightforward rules for how the variable complexity of the game's rules can be applied.
What is the PGRS?
The Paleo Gaming Rules System (PGRS) is an original d6 roll-and-keep approach to Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs). Built to be fully modular, all of our PGRS games use the same core mechanics, such that you can mix and match the elements you like. These games can be played separately, or combined to make unique experiences in any genre. Looking for a spelljammer-inspired game? Omega Horizon gives you starships and futuristic weaponry while Legends of Draconia outlines rules for magical spellcasting and enchanted relics. Don’t want to fully mix the streams? No problem! Borrow any playable Species of Careers from one game to another without diluting stricter sci-fi or fantasy flavor.
Free Online Character Creation Tool
In order to help make the game more accessible, especially given how many options are available during character creation, we have partnered with Mirtos Games to provide a free online character creator and dice rolling tool.
We plan to continue expanding this online tool as time goes on, building a robust framework for GMs to run campaigns, players to track important notes on their inventory and adventures, and more.
More to Come
We plan to continue to release supplemental material for the game, such as adventure modules, source books which introduce additional factions and worlds, new playable Species and Careers, and much more. So far, we have published a one-shot space western adventure titled Dust & Steel which pits your player crew against backwater bandits on a desert planet.
